La Route De Samarkand Poem by Mariah Srygler

La Route De Samarkand

Rating: 4.5

Here a Pakistani girl
is fabling shadow with her
kohl-colored
eyes but it is her nose
hushing God
in the breath of a poppy
crushed
like a handkerchief of blood

She's being swallowed
like pipe smoke, yet
one hand stays planted
firmly
in flowers
