Labour Day, Poem by Matloob Bokhari

Labour Day,

LABOUR DAY
I am a labourer
I am working all the day
Tilling fields, sowing seeds, cultivating flowers
Making palaces with the sweat of my brow
And tears of my children
O my wealthy masters!
You are celebrating Labour Day with manna dew
My unwanted, unloved, uncared children are living in hunger
I need not words of your lesson
I need waste food from your dust bin
My children are starving silently
They are living in agony
O overeating friends!
You are praying for heaven
I pray for the crust of your bread
My moaning children need a loaf of bread
Bread is my religion
Teach unjust rich, not to conquer the moon and stars
Conquer starvation and suffering of mankind on this planet
This is the lesson written in the scriptures of all!
