Lakeside In Autumn Poem by Joyce Hemsley

Lakeside In Autumn

I wandered along the Lakeside today
Watching the proud swans in flow.
In my head, lived a thousand memories
Of 'you and I' ~ long long ago.

Green algae still covered the water
'Though the air was quite fresh and sweet
Bluebells had died along with the daisies
And gone was our old rustic seat.

Nostalgia crept into my lonely heart
A feeling I cannot explain ~ They say
One can never go back in time
Because memories give way to the rain.

But I just had to admire the scene once more
That place where our youth was spent.
It all seemed so unreal to me
Our romance, which was heaven sent.
