Languorous Lines Poem by Margaret Alice Second

Languorous Lines

Saint-Saëns Animal Carnival, endless
piano arpeggios in opposite directions
fatigue ruining dreams of accomplish-
ment, oh, found the enchanting fishes
swimming, relaxing into delight just to
be rudely awakened by braying donkeys
rewind by immediately double-clicking
and swaying again to the languorous
lines consisting of bright flashes of light,
a lullaby lilting in floating shimmers
