Last Chance* Poem by Thistle Wargul

Last Chance*

It’s your last chance
To take what you’re given.
Your last chance
To give what you’ve got.
It’s your last chance
To say that you’re sorry.
Your last chance,
Don’t throw it away.

Do you know how it feels
When you’re forced to live in a lie?
Know of the pain
When all your blood runs dry?
Do you know how it feels
When you fear for your life?
Know what it feels like
To lose control?

So tell me something,
And I want the truth:
Why should I listen to you?
Answer me this,
And leave me be.
Why should I be there for you?
‘Cos you left me to bleed,
And left me to cry,
And left me there all on my own.
You left, I was broken,
Came back when I’d healed,
And wanted to stand by my side.

Well, it’s your last chance
To take what you’re given.
Your last chance
To give what you’ve got.
It’s your last chance
To say that you’re sorry.
Your last chance,
Don’t throw it away.

I let you come back
So many times, I lost count.
I fell for your tricks
‘Cos I thought you had changed.
Strike three and you’re out,
You scream and you shout,
It changes nothing at all.
I gave you your chances
And you threw them away.
So now it is your turn to fall.

So tell me something,
And I want the truth:
Why should I listen to you?
Answer me this,
And leave me be.
Why should I be there for you?
‘Cos you left me to bleed,
And left me to cry,
And left me there all on my own.
You left, I was broken,
Came back when I’d healed,
And wanted to stand by my side.

And you’re too late
To take what you’re given.
You’re too late
To give what you’ve got.
You’re too late
To say that you’re sorry.
You’re too late,
‘Cos you threw it away.
