Last Day Poem by Carolina Soto

Last Day

Rating: 4.5

As you lay in your death bed cold and weak.
And when you die you hope to seek
Bright white lights upon your eyes
Instead of fire because all your sins and lies
You begin to think about the life you had
And try to forget the memories that made you mad
And your body aches with so much pain
And everyday your mood is down like if it were a day of rain
When you try to sleep your scared you might never awake
So you stay up and look out the window and stare at the lake
And you think about your son and daughter that are going to visit you today
So you don't want to show up tired, so you go to sleep and say it's okay
As me and my baby brother are going to the nursing home
I open my purse and put in my comb
With every step I take you feel a great ache of pain more and more
And you try to move but you end up falling on the floor
And you stay their for a short period of time
So we go into your room the color of lime
I ran to you
But once you saw your body laying on the floor you already knew
And you see your daughter and son crying and she's screaming 'No'
But it's your time to go
