Last Day On Earth Poem by Ojeikpo Elijah

Last Day On Earth

On my last day on Earth, I'll walk the streets
And take in every sight with a new lens
For soon I'll leave this world in bittersweet
And bid farewell to all of my dear friends
The sun will rise one final time for me
And paint the sky with hues of orange and red
The birds will sing a mournful symphony
As I wander through the paths where I have tread
I'll stop by every place that holds my heart
And reminisce on memories I've made
The laughter, love, and tears, they'll never part
But now it's time for me to slowly fade
My time on Earth may be coming to an end
But tomorrow, in a new world, I'll transcend
As I watch the sunset on this last day
I'll hold on to the moments that I've treasured
The people I've met, the words that I'll say
Will live on, even when my life is measured
For in this world, we are but temporary
And our time is limited, a precious gift
So on this last day, I'll find clarity
And give my heart one final hopeful lift
I'll say goodbye to all that I have known
But trust that in a new world I will thrive
For life goes on, even when we have flown
And in a new adventure, I'll arrive
So farewell Earth, I'll miss you dearly
But on this last day, I'll leave oh so cheerly.
