i remember last night
we did not argue
we never fight
it was sort of an accounting
about what is hidden and what is revealed
about what is there but cannot be said
about what is said but was never there
about keeping this bond intact
about not cutting the umbilical cord of love
or if love is gone
about keeping this company going
the need for us to be here
the need of substance and pillars and roof
so that the house of cards may not fall
and then leave us all the ruins.
