Last One Standing Poem by Pasquale DiMeola

Last One Standing

You will be better not being bitter
While everyone other than you saw gain
Least of all you were never a quitter
Many dropped out yet somehow you remained

It's too easy to agree with the crowd
Keeping proper opinions to yourself
Acting a coward near those who are loud
Hardly pulling the wise books from the shelf

You position yourself in the middle
Surrounded by the cold faces of hate
Bombarded by hard questions and riddles
With eloquent answers to seal their fate

As of now you are leading the parade
With the converted following behind
They will dance from sunshine to shade
Beware the darkness poisoning their mind.
