Laylat Al-Qadr

O the night of decree!
O the night of power!
Thy colossal significance,
Thou are better
than a thousand
months,
My senses jaded,
Aspirations shredded,
Nagging grows stronger,
More cupidity,
My soul lost
O determinate night of the year!
Keeping my eyes open
For the whole night,
I kept supplicating,
To get the treasure,
To feel with the heart
Thy unfeigned solace,
O the night of love!
O the night of brightness!
O the night of nights!
O the night of mercy!
Heal me,
Give me thy blessings
Listen very carefully
My all whimpers
O, thou night!
Help me avoid sinning again.

The poet describes Lailat al Qadr, the Night of Power, marks the night in which the Qur'an was first revealed to the Prophet Muhammad by Allah. Muslims regard this as the most important event in history, and the Qur'an says that this night is better than a thousand months (97: 3) , and that on this night the angels descend to earth.
