O Father - Poem by Gary James Smith

It's hard to believe O Father
That Thou would send Thy Son
To take upon Himself our sins
Take them everyone
Thou we all are guilty
And deserve Your wrath for sure
You have granted mercy
And a Victory secure

Through our blessed Lord Jesus
We can be forgiven
And look for hope in Him alone
To bring us into Heaven
So simple message and plain
That even a child can see
If I repent and turn from sin
Jesus will live in me

What higher expectation
Could man aspire too
Than eternity with God above
When our life is through
He the all present Saviour
With Whom there is no night
When we are in fellowship
We are walking in the Light

How beautiful to walk in the steps of the Saviour
Someone has written that song
And as I walk with Him each day
As well, I sing along
That heart that's filled, with songs and praises
Never wants for more
Twill be sung through endless ages
On that happy shore

Where are you friend with Jesus
What sings the songs in you
Maybe you should trust in Him
Have Heaven's point of view
Each day that's dark and dreary
He'll be your True sunshine
Have a little talk with Jesus
And make this Saviour Thine.
