Leather Poem by Matt Greenblatt

Leather

Cattle hide, buck skin
Leather has a nature
Such that, necessarily
To be of use
It must be broken
Tanned by industry
Dried and cut
Then sewn with
The skill of a tradesman
Before it can serve as
The bomber jacket of a fighter ace
A wallet, or perhaps
A welder's apron
