My Wondering Eyes Poem by Matt Greenblatt

My Wondering Eyes

Her glasses rest so gently on her face
And in that instant of soft touching
Worlds and kingdoms melt to me
But my eyes retreat in haste
Lost in an instant of window gazing
In a deep brown world you've hypnotized
Entrapped, ensnared with your charmer's note
Each hair on end from out its basket rising
Escaped, though, I always long to be
Posessed by that enchanting stare
Lured again into your glance
So to tempt your heating eyes
And you by chance choose to capture mine
In passion thick as whipping cream
They lock, separated by thin panes
Or maybe nothing quite so fine
That's what at least I dare to dream
But at your gaze my instinct turns away
Even so, a prisoner remains
In the powers of your gleam
