Leave The Lights On Poem by Ben Henry Baang

Leave The Lights On

Rating: 4.5

//***Note: This is my first poem with strict rhyming and measurement (Tamang Sukat at Tugma) so ideas were so limited***///

I'm sitting here late night
Trying to sleep despite
The thoughts of you ringing
My heart keeps on beating

I enter my wild mind
Where it's you I can find
Drowned into delusion
By a strong love potion

Half alive and half dead
I could have wished time sped
The morning should break now
I've gotten here but how?

In a place we both share
There is something that's rare
Yet common in us two
Eternal love that's true

Two hours past twelve, can't sleep
Thinking too much, too deep
Only your voice resounds
In my mind with no bounds

I have your old picture
You were young yet mature
My eyes droop in this time
Yet my emotion's prime

So I'll leave the lights on
Till the first sight of dawn
Stay awake for a girl
Though it makes my eyes twirl
