Left Out (12/13/10) Poem by Melissa Mary

Left Out (12/13/10)

Left out in the winter
Pain emanating from my core.
The windows and doors are locked
Can't feel my heart anymore.

Comfort in your hands
As you stare from your clean window.
A cruel smile on your face,
No stress upon your brow.

Always been taken care of
So you don't understand my tears.
Always coddled and wrapped up
You know nothing of my fears.

Diamonds on each ear,
A coat upon your back,
Ribbons in your hair,
There is nothing that you lack.

You hide inside your house,
The one I used to call mine.
With the parents who give you all that you want...
The ones I stopped calling mine.
