Lennox Poem by Shirani Rajapakse

Lennox

They killed a dog the other
day. He was different, they said, unlike
the others. Dangerous,

unpredictable; so they euthanized him.
Many years ago they gassed six
million people because

they were different. Unlike
the others. Might pollute
the pure race. So they

got rid of them.
Intolerance reigns.
Nothing seems to have changed in half

a century. Mindsets have
remained the same.
And to think we have evolved.
