Lessons I'Ve Learned Poem by Abby Mize

Lessons I'Ve Learned

You said that we were over
So I assumed that we were through
Until today when you informed me
That I'm the girl for you

I wake up in the mornings
You first come in my mind
How could I forget you
Your sweet and oh so kind

Please show me that you love me
And show me that you care
Convince me that I'm priceless
Make me believe I'm rare

More than just my boyfriend
Is seen through my hazel eyes
I never wanna let you go
I'm the winner and you're my prize

The heart that lies inside of you
I never really won
But if you add up all my love for you
It would weigh more than a ton

I really thought I loved you
I realized that I don't
I thought we'd stay together
But now I know we won't

The only thing relationships do
Is crumble and break your heart
But I can't and will not deal with that
It hurts to fall apart

I wish I could see the future
To see if you're in my life
Maybe we will be forgotten
Or maybe I'll be your wife

No matter what is going on
If the world decides to end
I want to make sure you know
You'll always be my friend

Eventually my emotions
Will push me to the ground
But when you're standing by my side
My frown turns around

Although I know my love for you
Is gonna twist and turn
I will consider our relationship
A lesson that I've learned
