Let Go - Stop Holding On Poem by ashok jadhav

Let Go - Stop Holding On

(The speaker stands at the edge of a dimly lit stage, one hand gripping a railing, the other hanging loosely. Their voice is heavy with fatigue, pain, and the struggle of release.)
I have clutched it… for years, for decades, as if the weight of the world was nothing compared to the weight of this… this thing I could not release. I held on so tightly that my hands ached, my arms burned, and yet I could not imagine letting it go.
I told myself, 'If I hold, I survive. If I hold, I am safe. If I hold, I still have something worth keeping.' But… what was I keeping? Memories that turned to ashes the moment I touched them? Love that fled the instant I tried to grasp it? Dreams that shattered even as I breathed life into them?
The cruelest truth is this: holding on does not preserve. It destroys. It suffocates. It chains you to ghosts, to shadows, to echoes of what never truly was. And every day, I felt the chains tighten… until they nearly crushed me completely.
But tonight… tonight, I see it clearly. I see the futility of grasping what is meant to slip through my fingers. I see that in my refusal to release, I was drowning myself, clinging to debris while the river of life carried everything else forward.
(Voice rising, trembling with both fear and liberation.)
So here I am… on the edge… trembling, yes, but alive. And I make this vow—to let go. To stop clutching at the broken pieces. To stop begging for what will not return. To stop dragging the past into a future that demands my full presence.
It is terrifying. I will not lie. To let go is to step into emptiness, to surrender the familiar even when it hurts, to admit that some things were never mine to keep. But in that surrender… there is freedom. There is air to breathe again. There is space for new light, new love, new life.
I will let go. Not tomorrow. Not someday. Not when the pain eases. I will let go now… because holding on has cost me enough. Because I deserve the chance to be unchained. To be unburdened. To be… free.
(Pauses, looking down, then slowly lifts their face toward a faint light.)
And when I release… when I truly release… I will rise from the ashes of my own grip and step forward into a world I never allowed myself to see. And I will walk, unafraid, carrying only what I choose, leaving the rest behind.
(Silence. A single exhale, heavy yet light, as if the weight of decades has finally been lifted.)
If you want, I can also translate this entire monologue into Hindi, keeping the emotional intensity and theatrical feel intact, just like I did with your 'Wake-up Call' monologue.
Do you want me to do that?
