It's hard to keep up hope
I'm not going to lie
Just as I was thinking of this poem
I found myself sighing

Why is keeping hope so hard
To lift our spirits bright?
Could it be our natural inclination
Reigning our Hope in too tight?

Is it chemical?
I want to know
For when I hold on to hope
I slide down a slippery slope
And realize fast it's properties
Are meant to extend to others
Other than to possess for my own

Maybe that's just hope
Characteristically speaking
We may only get as much as we're needing
As it meets us where we're at
So just in time to bring us hope
To trust it by the minute
Or put more faith in seconds of chance
For that is what Hope's building
