Let Love's Charm Set You Free Poem by Michael Walkerjohn

Let Love's Charm Set You Free

Love rules
making one to swoon
causing others to hotly swarm
built upon fantasy; or amorous charm
casted as a panacea, causing each some alarm
this fusion through passion, this visible yearn
cannot be begged for or borrowed, it must
be heart and soul earned…
So many lost legions
pass through this mystical treat
this sweetest of illusions is sometimes
bitter and seemingly mean; as in heels to head
when in dire misunderstanding, faux love rears its true stead.
Love must be therefore the most precious of living things
the most peace filled dream, that one awesome song
each may sing, the most innocent kiss, the most
endearing hug; between a truly amative prince
and the princess he may so unintentionally hunt.
Love implies true understanding, yet promises
not a sweet ending; and should your life make an
ascent, up towards that which could soon or so be
treat your love as a charm and let love's charm set you free.
