Let Me Cry In Peace Poem by Ojeikpo Elijah

Let Me Cry In Peace

Just let me cry in peace,
For my heart is heavy, my soul won't cease,
Tears stream down my weary face,
As I mourn a love that's now erased.

Grief consumes me, like a raging fire,
As I mourn the loss of my heart's desire,
The ache in my chest, oh it won't cease,
Oh, just let me cry in peace.

Do not offer comforting words,
For they won't ease the pain, it's absurd,
My heart is shattered, my spirit, weak,
All I can do is wallow and weep.

Oh, just let me cry in peace,
For my heart has been torn, it needs release,
The memories of us, they haunt my mind,
Leaving me broken, and unaligned.

I long for just a moment of solitude,
To grieve this loss, to feel this magnitude,
For in this pain, I find a sense of release,
So please, just let me cry in peace.

The world moves on, but I'm stuck in the past,
My love, my soulmate, forever cast,
Into the depths of my heart and soul,
Oh, how I wish, you hadn't taken that toll.

But I'll honor your memory, in every tear,
For losing you, my dear, is my greatest fear,
So let me mourn, let me find my way,
In this elegy, I'll have my say.

Oh, just let me cry in peace,
For in this sorrow, I find some release,
So when the tears come, don't try to cease,
Just let me cry, in this sorrowful peace.
