Let Me Speak Of Avalon Poem by Mary Champion

Let Me Speak Of Avalon

Let me speak of Avalon and magic,
this land wherein Excalibur was wrought.
Avalon, the sacred Isle of apples.
where grain and grapes and all good nourishment
will grow untended from the virgin soil,
without the need of harrow or of plough.
This sanctuary where good King Arthur came
to seek the healing waters of its streams
and herbs that only grow in its blessed soil.
‘Twas here, at last, he found the Holy Grail
that vessel of immortal life and love
sustaining him while he awaits the day
when it has been resolved he will return,
retake the throne pretenders have purloined
and bring back justice to this cherished land,
whose heart is beating still in Avalon.
