Lethe Poem by Petra Novakova

Lethe

To drink from Strife's daughter is to lose yourself
In oblivion that is too sweet not to taste again
Only shadows of your memories shall remain.

To drink from Strife's daughter is to find a new self
In darkness and in light so that you are never deprived
Of seeing the whole world with your eyes open wide.

To swim in Hardship's sister is to lose your past
So that it forever remains an unsolvable mystery
The person you once were shall become history.

To swim in Hardship's sister is to always come last
In life and in death even when others can't survive
So often that failure no longer damages their pride.

To drown in river of Lethe is to lose your future
In a flood of lost souls none of which is your own
It equals forgetting all that you have ever known.

To drown in river of Lethe is to create a rupture
In time and in space where the new you can thrive
In a reality of your own making, no rules implied.
