Let's Start Counting Poem by Paul Falconer

Let's Start Counting

Rating: 4.0

Let's start counting the bodies
Reveal the truth about femicide
Killers once walked away free
But from forensics they cannot hide

What about honour killings
Couples flee in love's name
Families go to murderous lengths
And kill them all the same

We really need to know the stats
Parricide rises by the day
Long ago it was unimaginable
Now  its here to stay

No more, no more we must stand firm
And know the demon ever present
Let's smoke 'em out these evil beings
And reverse the crucible's crescent

Why should I ever apologise
For penning this dark poem today
Men must hang their heads in shame
When they look the other way!
