Letter To My Dad
Am moving to the village,
To stand on your grave,
Something I have been doing for the last 27 years,
Today I need answers,
Why did you leave?
Life has been so cruel,
You caused mama unwanted pain,
I couldn't help it, watching Adida cry,
Raising me singlehandedly she did,
Were you this coward?
Why did you have to fall?
Do you know how I grew up like a chick?
Life got tough and Adida didn't make it,
From nothing I rose,
Battling with pigs I did,
Why did you pass the mantle?
Mantle of torment and agony,
I still don't understand,
Am now a grown man,
A father to Baraka,
I try to give him what you denied me,
I always pray God me life,
To see him see him grow,
So I may teach him the way,
I believe he will be a great man,
Just like Joseph he will be,
But answer my questions.
