Letter To The One I Haven't Met Yet Poem by James Long II

Letter To The One I Haven't Met Yet

Rating: 3.0

Hey friend,

I'm writing cause I fear the silence when you're not around
I've had some time to try this lifetime out but I'm not made for solid ground
I know you said that time was only here to remind us what together's like
But
I won't lie
I resent it when you're gone at night, still
I've been patient like you said to be, I've been walking forward
Keeping pace a growing what I need to breathe
To be
for you and what we nee, a place to rest and play and see what everything was for
for you
for me
For all the things we love to grow. I'll till this earth and move this stone and remind myself that every join will keep the cold wind off your face
One day
Whatever it takes, right? That's what I said, and what I meant and even if I'm almost spent
I won't let you down
I promise that, when it's all been done we'll have a home
I'm just smaller when you're far away.
You'd laugh, I know, if you were here.
You stand so tall amidst my fear.
And you'd tell me that the theater's fun but my Oscar can wait til our work is done.
You'd say "We'll be free,
No time to mourn in eternity"

I'm making peace with the seas in my head and the night in my soul
Like you asked
A place for your moon and stars to hang their glow.
I trace each spot they'll be, one day, when your constellations fill the sky
And these spaces play court to all the novas, fires and faerie lights, explosions, galaxies and myths you have inside.
But my restful places offer cold sleep,
Home to just the spark you gave to me

I've made some friends along the way, or they've made me, and I'm sure you'd like them too.
They feel like pieces of the song you sang, an age ago, before it all, echoes of our tribe and glimpses of you.

You always said I wasn't meant to be alone but that's not easy to believe when I am hollowed by the mile,
But I have faith in all your wisdom and I hope to make you smile
I'm tired, and I'm bleeding and I know it's not done yet
I'll have to leave it all there one day before I get the chance to mend,
And I want so very badly just to stop and fine you there,
When I wake up
but then you'd have to walk this life alone and that's not something I can stand.
So I'll keep taking steps and trying because I know its what you'd say
And I'll keep your vision in my heart until you're finally here to stay.
And I can bear a thousand years of this if it's the quickest pathway home
but
I miss your smile
How it lights your eyes
I'm half alive when you are gone

I hope the world knows just how bright you shine, out there creating light. I'll be her waiting, be here growing, until this all is put to right.

Yours

Expressing love towards a friend is always incomplete as you are always in want of more. Good
