Letters To My Soul Poem by R. L. Allen

Letters To My Soul

I want to buy some new sneakers.
Ones that don't rub blisters on my toes.

I want to sing.
I want to stand at the top of the valley and sing.
I want to not care who hears.

I want to make a bridge over the hills.
A wobbly one made from nothing but rope and wood.
And then, I want to cross it.

Above all, I want to write letters to my soul.
I want to tell it to stop hiding;
to stop being so invisible.

I want to ask it,
Soul, where are you?
Do you even exist?

In the words of Evie, from my new novel.
