Lit Poem by R. L. Allen

Lit

the room explodes
one massive heartbeat
pumping, pumping
as i dance
you dance
we dance

we all dance with
a drink in our hand

to forget
forget
forgot

but i don't come here
to get drunk
don't come here to drink
because

what good would it do?

the music resonates
deep within my soul
and i dance
you dance
we all dance to feel

lighter
lighter
lit

and the music
the music is so loud
that i can't hear my troubles
so i smile
you smile
we smile
we all smile because

we will remember,
in the morning
this

weightlessness
