Liar Poem by Anindya Mukhopadhyay

Liar

〔Ⅰ〕
you hit and run,
then return
to say sorry.

do you think
it work?
yes it may

to the end:
a gauze band
for a glass pane

broken beyond repair.
you stare
like a jackass…

〔Ⅱ〕
admit that
you've hurt
her emotions.

take a deep breath;
for the truth
now prepare yourself

don't you hear?
‘fie on you liar—'
echo the voice

you won't learn!
yet return again
to fashion sorry

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Composed of self-reproach, this present poem is critical of the folks that fake sorry but not really are.

Enraged, the poet calls them ‘liars' that are not ashamed of their deeds and have least idea about the consequences it will have.

False promises made, have broken her heart beyond repair and he can only ‘stare/ like a jackass' now after several futile attempts.

The poet is in the mood of complete disgust. Finally giving up hope he ends, ‘you won't learn/ yet return again/ to fashion sorry'.

But is this poem confessional? This is left for the readers to find out. Your comments and feedbacks are most welcome.
