Liberation Poem by Aparna Chatterjee

Liberation

Will the tears go away one day?
I asked the smiles that were at bay.
Yes, they said, some day,
The tears might just ebb away.

When? I asked. What day?
Please be patient, said they.
Wait for that day…
When the rising sun sets
For the day,
With the promises of a
Tomorrow that never comes
Your way.

Oh I see, what you mean,
Wouldn’t that be my death day?
Yes, they said smilingly :)
The final release on liberation day.
