Life Poem by Bloom Rodriguez

Life

Like echoes in a cave
i hear their voices
i feel their presence
and i hear their cries
there wander with no direction
there wander with no hope
there wander with no lives

they tell of who they are
the descendants of the slaves
who once walked on the face of the earth
whose stories are untold
yet need to be told before they get old to be told
they tell of their horrors
they tell of their lives
and this life, life
life is so unfair
it burdens you with sorrow
it burdens without mercy
instead of removing all the pain it loads more on top of it

life though we cannot imagine being without it
though we would be nothing without it
we resent having to live with it
life in my animosity
life in my pain and sorrow
results with its joy, happiness and triumph
they tell their never ending stories
they tell of their lives

'how can it be? '
they ask me
'how can it be that'....they cry
'that the thing you need the most
more than anything cause you great anguish
how can it be that, that-
that thing make your life a living hell
that was how our lives were
a living miserable hell'
they tell me

'listen, shh, be quite'
they say
'life knows not to give joy
life knows not to give happiness
life knows not to give triumph
life is a waking hell
life gives you torment, wounds of mediocrity
life gives you pain
it does'nt remove pain
but it teaches you to tolerate pain
tolerate pain like failure'

the unshed tears in their eyes
the wounds in their skins
their cries and invisibility
their untold stories are no more
finally they say
'you've listened and now we are free
free from the chains life put on us
for our untold stories are no longer untold
finaly we have defeated life! !
