Life At The Zoo Poem by Deep Dhesi

Life At The Zoo

Stare at me
Your eyes hold no weight of judgment in my world
Your blasé stare does not define my victories or defeats
Your resolve and stance are strong through your slated vision
These bars; society, civility, laws, ethics
Insulate your insolence with cold water warmth
I may be the minority, but a day will come
My day will come

Stare at me
Your thoughts don't shape my personality
Your judgements break on my truths
Like the ocean on black jagged rocks
You will recede and try again but I will always be left standing
Let my kindness boil your blood, choke on your own vile thoughts
You can stare and throw rocks or poke me with sticks
That won't change what I am, and what you show yourself to be

Stare at me
And call me weak
Because you fear your own weakness
Call me a fool
Because I love without hesitation
Call me fragile
Because I choose to feel
Call me powerless
Because I choose to share
You can't change my reality; you can just stand there and stare at your own identity
