Life He Does Blame Poem by Francis Duggan

Life He Does Blame

He is short on money and feeling quite sad
And he does feel that life has been treating him bad
The praises of life at present he does not sing
But he forgets that life does not owe anyone anything

His lack of money his source for his unhappiness
But he forgets life is the greatest gift he does possess
He should feel happy at least to be living today
There is no sadness or joy where dead people lay

Money from his worries may bring him some relief
But this even for him may even be brief
Even when times are good for him he has a sad look on his face
Perhaps in his mind for happiness little space

Whenever I meet him to me he does say
How life has been treating him in a bad way
Though only in his late twenties in his brown hair some gray
And meeting him never brings joy to my day.

For his lack of money life he does blame
But life does treat praise and criticism as the same
And one most important thing he overlooks nonetheless
Is that life is the greatest gift he does possess.
