Life In A Nut-Shell Poem by Rikki Das

Life In A Nut-Shell

Every infant at birth thinks he could fly,
He believes blindly, his dreams could touch the sky.
A child is innocent, unaware of life's complexities,
He dreams high, whether he lives in small towns or large cities.
To improve one's life, education is an important tool,
He usually starts acquiring that, going back to school.
Story rolls back to a young boy in Redmond,
His skills and potentials were as good as a precious diamond.
The innocent child lived life, happy and graceful,
Affection and respect acted as his life's fuel.
He firmly enjoyed under the white-light,
But life would not end without a fight.
The young fellow thought himself to be smart,
But the experience of growing up was certainly hard.
Life is not the tale of Cinderella,
You cannot except to stay forever under Almighty's umbrella.
He suffered hard-bite of luck,
Thus, was left paralyzed like a sitting- duck.
Life threw challenges one after another,
He ignored them all foolishly without showing any bother.
The graceful one was talking pleasant things over phone,
Just then, an outraged teenager lifted up and hit him with a stone.
Marriage, he thought would be his life's turning-point,
Ignoramus attitude of his partner made him more & more disappoint.
The person whom he thought to be his bride,
In no way acted as his trustworthy guide.
The unsuccessful married life added to his frustration,
He was suffering from hell lot of tension.
No more choices in his life was left open-wide,
He had no other options than to commit suicide.
Though completely unhappy with the activities of his wife,
He finally killed himself with the aid of a knife.
