In the river's mirror, life shifts,
Distant things draw strangely near.
I meet myself, face to face,
Across the trembling screen of water.
Ripples stir unspoken doubts:
Is this my truer self,
Silent yet all-seeing?
Did I choose wrong,
Or did I choose right?
Do I truly align—
With the reflection
I find in the river?
The river's mirror holds no past,
No trace of days long gone.
Butterflies drift, their wings aflame—
Now here, now gone—
Carrying beauty and sorrow
To vanish into the endless wild.
Images blur, begin to fade,
Yet linger vivid in my mind.
I ask myself:
Did those moments ever happen,
Or is my memory a painted dream?
I grasp at the flowing river,
Only to pause and see:
The past and present
Are figments of the same dream.
It is the moment we shape—
The single truth we hold.
