Life Is A Gem You Recieve At Birth Poem by Joshua Bantum

Life Is A Gem You Recieve At Birth

Life is a precious gem that you receive at birth
its scuffed and opaque
but every ounce of joy brushes off a layer
the light starts to reflect off of her eyes onto you
you can see stars swim through her imagination
as she gets lost in your sky
you fall on to her bed
her love reassures you
no longer do you have to care
the arms that stretch like tentacles drag you deeper
and deeper into her cave
drowning, and sinking into her dream
I find myself lost
and gone
but my stone high in sunlight strays me towards home
again and again i can't escape
if dead
that’s fine
but alive I can still feel her spine
collapsing on my stomachs side
her breath digs into my chest deep
her lips press upon mine
they steep
in this musk created by us in this room
the lavender branches I laid on the bed are bruised
and releasing that aroma that your dreams are tied to
we've made plenty of dents in this mess
but I'm wrestling with your passion
and your passion is winning
