Life Is Cheap - Poem by Deepak Hariharan

It is cheap, my boy, it's very cheap
The cost of human life is cheap

You die from a quake or you die from a disease,
Anything that makes you feel ill at ease

You die off a bullet and you die off a wound,
The clock of time for those people is not properly wound

You die off the callousness of others and you die off the callousness of your own,
And you leave others to mourn you in tears of their own

You die off an attack and you die off a stroke,
And in those cases your life goes away in a single stroke

Take care of yourself, my little boy,
because you are the reason of mine and everyone's joy

Because in this world, life is cheap, so keep it dear,
Because in this world, death is cheaper
