Life Long Stutter Poem by Dakota Ellerton

Life Long Stutter

Through my life,
I have always known you.
I have already met you,
several times before.
I would run into your arms,
and tell you I love you.
The imprint in my heart,
is too big to ever forget you.
If I told you through various slurs,
that I hate this, and would do what it takes to fix it,
surely you'd cast my thoughts away.
I can only do so much,
you can only try so little.
My stomachs turning,
what thoughts am I thinking?
The kinds that make me sick,
my breathing races,
but my heart stands still.
With another man sleeping next to me,
I will quietly think about you.
Why do we hurt eachother so?
Why must we torment, until we are both miserable?
Why can't love be enough?
You were my first love,
my first for many things.
I would never regret,
I could never forget.
But how easily can you speak those lies my dear?
Is it easy to lie to my face?
Tears streaming like rain drops.
Do you not understand how much you just hurt me?
You've left me speechless.
