Life's bitter ruthless bride,
All unforgiving, by his side,
Conceiving all she deems essential,
Crops on reems of our potential;
And with one unrelenting bite,
Takes all away, as is her right,
So leaving nought of future bliss,
Such as we sought, so must we miss;
She ever, till the end of days,
On innocent and guilty, preys,
Engorging endlessly, it seems,
Upon our sweet and precious dreams.
