Life To Ponder Poem by Robin Shuler

Life To Ponder

Flying by in a blur,
Hello ma’am,
Goodbye sir.
And I just can’t be sure,
If it isn’t all a sham.

Twirling, floating, falling.
Eyes wide,
Yet dreaming.
And my heart is screaming,
Though I haven’t cried.

The surface is sparkle and glitter.
Pulling you,
Forget it’s bitter.
And this one is a hitter,
The pain is too true.

What do I really need?
Just look,
Just breathe.
Follow as they all lead,
Smile at what they mistook.

Those blue eyes held such sorrow.
Turn away,
Face the ‘morrow.
Yesterday is my Pharaoh,
Tomorrow being so cliché.

Watching as the shadows dance.
Softly spin,
Graceful stance.
Remember, you only have one chance,
Only one life in this skin.

Blink back all the tears.
Hold in,
Ignore the fears.
“Even after all these years, ”
I still see the staining sin.

Skipping to a silent song.
Sweet smile,
Nothing’s wrong.
Can you really be that strong?
Look, here comes the trial.

It’s a hard vow.
Locked up,
Can’t allow.
He just has to wonder how,
But it’s all leaked from the cup.

Nevertheless they move on.
Must chase,
Unknowingly drawn.
We are all just the pawns,
Moving forward in this race.

Taking in one last breath,
Mind wanders,
No Macbeth.
Coldness creeps with death,
Leaving nothing left to ponder,
