"Life Under The Mask" Poem by Eden Trinidad

What is a life hidden under the mask?
Our world is in a battlefield
No kings or queens and literate elites could claim,
we are untouchable...

almost everyone is hiding
too afraid of expiring
COVID-19 is "World War C"
we must avoid it in any way.

everybody now is thinking of security
even the butchers and pickpocketers
needs a super holiday
to avoid the unseen enemy.

men are still human beings,
created in God's image,
never an orangutan
goodness inborn we are no Hulk Hogan.

Our government are doing its best to feed the whole country
hoping every citizen will not go hungry
money and wealth will be blown away
COVID-19 will take our breath away.

Show how much you love your country
have compassion for humanity
this is the time for resiliency
this is the time for bravery

Yes, COVID-19 will touch everybody
even the wealthy or the holy
no one is safe if not healthy

Yet let us not be dismayed, do not be disheartened
You, are not alone fighting this "world war C"
we poets can touch lives through our poetry

and say "we deserve life".
