what are you that banishes the dark?
you who exist in twilight with the dark as one
the messenger to ships
and the bringer of dawn
what are you that hides the light?
the swallower of hope
the bringer of night and despair
what hides within you that all men fear?
what is it that can bring tears to our eyes with its beauty?
and what is it that can blind us to the most obvious things?
it conceals everything and it never changes.
but that which we hold most dear
it lets us see clearly
it holds all color within it
and it never stays the same
