Light On A Petal Poem by Martin Ward

Light On A Petal

Rating: 5.0

Light on a Petal

Streptocarpus Elin
casts hues of blue,
stained-glass like,
upon the yellow
petals of dahlia
Floodlight.
For the first
time, I see
as an insect
might see:
different colours
in changed-form.

Saint Michael
and All Angels,
cast colours
upon ancient stones.
Here, we hold
the hands
of medieval
artisans: artists
who seek
to replicate
the works
of The Great Architect
of the universe.

It is no wonder,
that when
the hour comes,
we grasp
and hold on
to this world
of bright,
familiar things.

Let the light
that shines
in perpetual form,
guide us on.
