Lightning, Clouds, Rain Poem by Gerard Woods

Lightning, Clouds, Rain

A clash of clouds, a flash of light,
And rain begins to spread the night.
And as it falls it dances on roofs,
Slides down drainpipes under pavement grooves.
Cleans the streets, dampens dust,
Turns iron to a fiery rust.
Drips from leaves to cobbled stones,
Down umbrellas shivers your bones.
Floods rivers, overflows streams,
And sometimes dampens a lovers dreams.
