Like A Lame Man Poem by Mandisi Mtwecu

Like A Lame Man

Like a new dawn rising up from the
Mountains waking them up from their sleep

Like a heavy rain pouring itself into
this dry and stressed land

Like a song leaving Miriam's lips
Let your heart be known to the world.

Like David pulling his Holy Ghost swag prepared to face
Goliath with only five stones;
But only one put him to death;
Let your heart be known to the world.

The grace of God found me lying on the other side of the road,
Tears making their way through my cheeks
My body tangled with pains.
My voice thinning in a space of air,
Tired of shouting.

The grace of God found me singing,
Dancing to a dead rhythm
My lips confidently applauding
as my tunnel was ready
To be filled with waters from t
he rivers that is been held for
too long in a bottle
2016, where I got lost in a forest trying to find me,
I lost myself in the forest and the demons preyed upon me

I waited by the pool for 9 years,
I am still waiting even today.
