Like An Incision Poem by Victoria Gauci

Like An Incision

Like an incision that never heals,
Seeping fluid that is love,
A puddle to gather 'round my feet,
Same as a rivers' flood,

All the moments that we've shared,
Are running in the current,
Soon to be gone and once again lost,
Amongsth the debris of torment,

This hurt inside feels so bad,
And I can't control myself,
All the while I feel as though,
You've put me on a shelf,

Love and respect are mutual,
Life's necessary elements,
I have them for you but you do not,
Accept them from me as celebrants,

I try every day to put this away,
So that I can carry on,
But thoughts of you still get in,
And most are very strong,

Forgiveness is divine they say,
Yet you don't know that word too well,
It's easy for you to be out there,
And leave me in this hell,

Go ahead and just forget,
What a friend you had in me,
I can't carry on with this pain in my heart,
I'm letting go so I can be free,

I wish you well in this life you live,
I will hold the memories for a while,
Again one day I will think of you,
And hopefully then I can smile.
