Like daylight
I fall straight and true
but like twilight I
am caught between evening
and night, between speech
and silence.
And I lean toward
night, because bare-legged
and barefoot my soul burns
in this sun
and soft darkness and
sweet quiet may heal it.
But in starshine I am
caught in the
brilliance of suns and
the weight of my will
does not will not cannot
prevent sunrise.
