Like Shards

We are like shards
of broken glass
he & I.
Discarded, forever lost
from what, now long forgotten,
once tethered us.
But,
like grains of sand
we brush against one another,
each smoothing the others ragged edges,
until we glow like amber
fresh from the sea.
