Like The Bold Stream Poem by JDC LeDrew

Like The Bold Stream

So comes the bold stream.
Over smooth stones and water-heavy logs.
A flashing flow of light
That dances and jumps and leaps,
And catches the dawn in vibrant hue,
Cascades the greens to deepest blue.

And flows around the mossy bends
And blows wet kisses to the ferns.
And rolls beneath the deep cut firs
Who sink their roots in claw-like grips
And mutter mournful, creaking fits.

So on rolls the stream.
Never waiting to be told
Where to flow, which way to go,
But down the mountain with passion flies,
The living and the dead to hold,
With all companions free and bold.

And such a song you sing!
Such a wild and glorious song!
Oh, how you do throw back your head
And sing a lusty song!
So that the jay in tree-top high
Is shamed to sing as you pass by!

And damn! How you dance!
So lightly now you leap and flow
That if I had the chance,
I would freely with you go!
Flying down the mountain!
Singing down the mountain!
Laughing down the mountain!

And just like you, I would reflect the sun,
And mirror the morning free and new,
In this way, I would pass like you.
The passion of the minute spend
And roar with every glory life lend!

That I, an untamed entity
Would dance and jest and never bow
And sing my lovely song.
So roll along.
Yes, roll along.

Until the deep tide took me down,
Two spirits joined both wildly free.
Then waves and winds would scatter me
In the vastness of the sea.
