Lilo Da Dadi Poem by Kubiat Bassey

Lilo Da Dadi

Lilo da dadi
Place me on that merry swing
On a day so bright
Face full of happy bliss
Lilo da dadi

Place me on that merry swing
Soaring high up
To meet mid air
The songs of the birds
The beautiful butterflies
The sweet scenting flowers
The cool breeze
Blowing my every hair
Lilo da dadi

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
'Lilo da dadi' is Hausa for at best 'Swinging is Fun.' The ecstasy and sense of freedom when on the swing, the joy, the view from mid air when placed on 'that merry swing' is soothing. It is a form of escapism from life's daily struggle.
